Calf Pro and Tri Sheild

In 2026, we started using these two products-Calf Pro and Tri-Sheild. We had a group that had both and a group that did not receive the Tri-Sheild. We tracked weight gain on all kids We saw a noticeable difference in the group that received both. Reaching weight goals earlier. We will be using both of these to ensure the best in our goat kids we retain and rehome.

Calf Pro has helped keep low coccidia counts in our kids. We start using at 3 days old. You could start it later, but then they would already have exposure to coccidia and a higher load. This product does not prevent the burden but minimizes its multiplication. This is why it’s important to start it as soon as possible. You would not use this with a medicated feed. Its been my experience that medicated feeds can work when we know the kid is eating the prescribed amount. We group feed and can not grain our kids separately. The dose that was recommended 1ml per 10lbs.

Tri-Shield was recommended by other ADGA breeders. The dose we gave for goat kids under 12 hours old was 2 ml. It must be given with the first 12 hours of birth. The goat kids that received this never had a moment of scours. We saw an increase of half ounce of daily weight gain. This on average meant the kids that received Tri-Sheild were 2 lbs heavier around 7-8 weeks of age. Prevention is everything.
